IMPORTANT: Guardian applications MUST be completed by anyone hoping to serve as a guardian. This includes family members wanting to be paired with a specific veteran. Please write the name of the veteran you would like to accompany on your guardian application. If you meet all the requirements, we try our best to accommodate these requests. The guardian fee is required by flight day. If you are selected for a flight you can pay your $500 guardian fee via PayPal, credit card, or bring a check to your mandatory training session.
At this time we cannot accept guardian applications unless you are flying with a specific veteran. Please do not fill out this application unless you are flying with a veteran you already know. Thank you for your cooperation.
Stars and Stripes Honor Flight, Inc. would not be successful without the generous support of our guardians. Guardians play a significant role on each flight, ensuring that every veteran has a safe and memorable experience. Duties include physically assisting veterans at the airport, during the flight, and at the memorials. In order to serve as a guardian, applicants must be between 18-64 years of age and one generation removed (at least 15 years younger) from their veteran. Applicants between 65-69 years of age may be considered with a medical review from one of our doctors. In addition spouses and significant others may not serve as guardians. Guardians should be intellectually, physically, and emotionally capable of caring for their veteran. We reserve the right to refuse any guardian application. All guardians are responsible for paying a $500 travel fee, which helps to ensure that our veterans continue to fly for free.
